The new line of diet and weight loss medications for obese and overweight people are already being hailed in journals, magazines, and doctors' offices around the world. Rimonabant is an “inverse agonist” for CB1, a cannabinoid receptor in the brain. What that means is it stops the brain from feeling hungry. For people who struggle with weight, the problem is that they feel hungry even when their body does not need food. Hunger can be felt simply because the body is used to eating at a certain time, so people eat then and the problem only grows. It's like an addiction. Drug and Alcohol Addiction
It has not been tested with prescription drugs, but it is thought that it would help. Definitely, Ribonabant and its brand versions are helpful with fighting addiction to cocaine, and perhaps even opiates. Two of the big reasons that people relapse are “triggers” and “cues”.
